Men’s golf events are open to male golfing members and these include:

Monthly Mugs – A monthly strokeplay competition played in 3 Handicap Divisions on Saturdays am & pm

First Captains Quaich and Eric Seex “Also-Run” - A strokeplay competition open to golfing  members who have won or been runner-up in a Monthly Mug the previous year.

Club Strokeplay Championship – A 36-hole event played over two days. The main prizes are for gross scores.

Club Championship and Kanbe – A singles match play competition played over a weekend. The final is played over 36 holes, played off scratch and is open to full golfing members with handicaps of 12 or lower. The Kanbe is a similar competition for handicaps 13 and above played off handicap difference and the final is over 18 holes.

Migumoini Matchplay Championship – A match play competiton open to handicapped golf members and played throughout the year.
Four Ball Better Ball Matchplay – A match play competition played off handicap open to all handicapped golfing members and is played throughout the year.

Karen Challenge – An open competition, 54-holes strokeplay played over one weekend. Open to handicaps of 12 and under. The event carries Kenya Golf Union golfer of the year points.

Karen Day & Chris Obura Trophy – A closed competition, 18-holes strokeplay.

The Captain’s Prize – This is played over a weekend and is open to all full male golfing members. Although the format is at the discretion of the Captain, in recent years it has been a Medal round on the Saturday followed by a Stableford round on a Sunday morning. The Winner is decided by deducting the Stableford points from the net Medal Score.



Mixed events are open to both men and lady golfers and these include:

Club Nite – 18-hole stableford competition played every Thursday and open to all club members with a handicap.

Mixed Greensomes – A 9-hole competition played usually on the second Tuesday afternoon of the month.

Captain’s Team v Lady Captain’s Team – Played when the new Captain and Lady Captain take office. ‘Kwaheri’ to the old and ‘Karibu’ to the new. This is played from a ‘shotgun start’.

Pewter Bowl – An 18-hole event first played in 1958 and originally a men’s event. The format is decided by the Captains.

Christmas Raffle – The annual Christmas Raffle is preceded by an alliance open to any combination of pairings. It is played from a shotgun start.

The Chairman’s Prize – Open to all full golfing members of the Club. The format is determined by the Chairman and may vary from year to year.

A company or member may also agree to sponsor a mixed event on any Saturday of the month that has no booked competition.



The ladies section organizes 2 to 3 tournaments every month specifically for ladies. These are Medals, Stableford Competitions and Spoon (fun competition, played in different formats each time). These Events are held either on Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday or Saturday morning.
